Elemental Art
Description
The purpose of this activity is to develop an art form that demonstrates the structural beauty of elements. The final product may be a sculpture, painting, framed picture, or similar. Make sure that your art forms include physical properties as well as the atomic structure of each element.
Procedure
1. Research the first 20 elements of the Periodic Table for the purpose of getting ideas to complete your art form. Notes on atomic structure and properties can be found here.
2. Research examples of art forms that may be appropriate for this type of project.
3. Conference with the teacher after you have completed this Conference Form.
4. Include a short paragraph explaining how your art forms represent each element, taking into account physical properties and the atomic structure.
5. Hand in your completed project.
6. As a group, write a short blog post including your activity notes and thoughts about the activity process.
